Elected Second Ward Commissioner in 2005 to fill a vacating seat, Commissioner Sydnor was re-elected in 2012. He serves as the President of City Council, and Co-Chairman of the City Finance Committee, and as the Liaison to Rescue Fire Company. He also serves on the Critical Areas Commission for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays.
As Mr. Sydnor remains committed to growth and development of Cambridge, he has previously served as an educator for Dorchester County for over thirty-five years. He graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a Bachelor of Science degree, with continued education at the University of Maryland College Park and George Washington University.
Commissioner Sydnor has received endowed recognition; which includes, but is not limited to the University of Maryland College Park Academy for Excellence in Local Governance, Educators Excellence for Minority Achievement Award, and the NAACP Achievement Award. He and his wife have two children.
