Municipal Utilities Commission


April 23, 2015

The Municipal Utilities Commission met in regular session on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Municipal Utilities Commission conference room at 410 Academy St., Cambridge, Md. Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley convened the meeting at approximately 6:30 pm.

Norma Alschbach-MUC Commissioner

Glenn Ford-MUC Commissioner

Andy Pasden-MUC Commissioner

Jane Dorman-MUC Water Resource Administrator

Absent: Joe Brooks-MUC Commissioner

Steve Williams-MUC Commissioner

Kevin Johnson-MUC Superintendent


Expenditures for the Month of March 2015 in the amount of $96,614.09 were submitted for approval.

Motion to approve the expenses was made by Mr. Pasden, seconded by Mrs. Alschbach.



Minutes for the MUC Meeting of March 26th, 2015 were submitted for approval.

Motion to approve minutes was made by Mrs. Alschbach, seconded by Mr. Pasden.


Mower & Valve Exerciser Purchase

Mrs. Dorman informed the Commission that the Mower and Valve Exerciser has been purchased and should be on site by the end of April.

Budget Amendment – Education & Training

Mrs. Dorman explained to the Commission why she needed additional funds for Education and Training, some of which will include additional courses and testing.

After further discussion the Commission decided to move $4500.00 from operating expenses (10-500-202) to education & training (10-600-304).


Motion to approve Budget Amendment in the amount of $4500.00 was made by Mr. Pasden, seconded by Mrs. Alschbach.

MUC Finance Presentation-Commissioner Pasden

Mr. Pasden began his presentation by explaining some differences between our existing accounts and their purpose.

Mr. Pasden provided the Commission with a chart that outlined multiple accounts and balances. He made several suggestions on consolidating and renaming the accounts so to give a better and more economical way to identify and disburse money in the future.

After open discussion it was decided to wait until we have a full board to make any changes to our existing accounts.

Superintendent’s Report

Mrs. Dorman discussed street openings and repairs. She reported on the Pumpage and Billing for the Month March.

With no further business, a motion was made to adjourn at approximately 7:15 pm.
