Historic Preservation Commission
August 11, 2015
The Historic Preservation Commission held an emergency meeting on August 11, 2015 at the City Council Chambers, 305 Gay St. Vice-chairman Michael Russo called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Mr. Russo began the meeting by issuing a welcome, taking roll call and swearing in persons planning to testify.

HPC Case # 2015-008, 824 Locust St.
The application was represented by Mr. Lyle Graham and Mr. Gary Sampson, roofing contractors of Tiger Roofing who made the case for replacing the buildings existing three tab roof with architectural shingles. They presented a sample of the proposed roofing material. Mr. Russo asked for clarification regarding the capping and if the gutters would be repaired. The applicants clarified that they would not do any work to the metal roofed structure in the far rear, the fascia or the soffits and that they would correct damaged wood. A motion to close the public session was passed unanimously. There was some discussion among the Commission. Mr. Berman asked that where wood features exist that they replace the material in-kind. Ms. Smith made a motion to approve the application as submitted for 824 Locust street, to replace the shingles, second by Mr. Berman. The motion passed 3-0.
There was brief discussion regarding the nature of and process for administrative review application, particularly where the change in roofing materials is involved.
Motion to adjourn
Mr. Berman made a motion to close the meeting, second by Ms. Smith and unanimously approved. The meeting adjourned at 7:24 pm.
