Historic Preservation Commission

The Historic Preservation Commission met on January 19, 2017 at the City Council Chambers, 305 Gay St. Chairman, Ron Berman called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. after a work-session for training at 6:00 P.M. Mr. Berman began the meeting by conducting roll call and issuing a welcome. Mr. Berman then conducted the swearing in of persons planning to testify and explained the order of business.

6:00 P.M. Work Session for Training
Mr. Collison was present to give a brief training for new Commissioners on the order of business.
October 20, 2016: Mr. Johnson made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted. Mr. Vojtech seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
November 17, 2017: Ms. Smith made a motion approve the minutes as submitted. Ms. Morgan seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
HPC # 2017-014, 807 Locust St: Brandon Spear requests approval to replace wood porch flooring with PVC porch flooring.
HPC #2017-015, 709 Travers St: Brandon Spear requests approval to replace wood porch flooring with PVC porch flooring.
Ms. Smith made a motion to approve the consent agenda as submitted. Mr. Vojtech seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
106 Choptank Ave.: Tim Crosby, project architect and Kelly Crowe, owner presented a video overview of the property, the history of HPC approvals at the property and explained their plans for future projects. There was some discussion regarding the major proposed changes to the building, the changes to the roof, and the overall history of the property.
116 Oakley St.: Thom Huntington, property owner asked for guidance regarding the replacement of windows and storm windows at the property. There was further discussion regarding the proposed light patterns, replacement sashes, and level of window deterioration.
Hilary Gibson, of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation gave a brief presentation on grants that will be made available by the Cambridge Clean Water Advisory Commission, for residents to manage rainwater.
Mr. Johnson made a motion to keep the same officers (Mr. Berman—Chair, Ms. Smith—Vice Chair). Ms. Morgan seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
New Commissioner Orientation
Mr. Berman, Ms. Smith and Ms. Kinser gave a presentation for new Commission members.
Motion to adjourn: Motion by Mr. Johnson, Ms. Smith seconded the motion and the Commission unanimously approved it. The meeting adjourned at 9:13 p.m.
