The Municipal Utilities Commission met in regular session on Thursday, October 27th., 2016, at the Municipal Utilities Commission conference room at 410 Academy St., Cambridge, Md., Acting Mayor Donald Sydnor convened the meeting at approximately 5:30 pm.

Expenditures

Expenditures for the month of July 2016 in the amount of $150,137.49 were submitted for approval.
Motion to approve the expenditures was made by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Ford.
Approved.

Expenditures for the month of August 2016 in the amount of $131,696.95 were submitted for approval.
Motion to approve the expenditures was made by Mr. Brooks, seconded by Mr. Ford.
Approved.

Expenditures for the month of September 2016 in the amount of $168,889.37 were submitted for approval.
Motion to approve the expenditures was made by Mr. Brooks, seconded by Mrs. Nabb-Holotik.
Approved.

Minutes

Minutes for the MUC meeting of July 28th., 2016, were submitted for approval.
Motion to approve minutes was made by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Brooks.
Approved.

Holiday Schedule

Mrs. Dorman discussed the holiday scheduled with the Commission. They decided to combine the November and December meeting to be scheduled on December 8th. at 5:30 pm. as a dinner meeting to be held at the Cambridge Yacht Club, 1 Mill Street, Cambridge Maryland.  (Confirmed).

Leak at Harbor Haven

Mr. Bramble informed the Commission about the leak at Harbor Haven. He said they were able to locate, shut off the valve within an hour and creating very little impact to the home owners. However, there were (12) units located at Cambridge Landing which were affected. Our crew worked overtime in restoring temporary service to these units before the end of the day.

A motion was made by Mr. Brooks to move $90,000.00 from reserves to the operating fund to cover the expenses incurred from the leak at Harbor Haven, seconded by Mr. Williams.
Approved.

Mrs. Dorman informed Commission that she would be requesting a budget appropriation of $90,000.00 to be approved by the City Council.

City Reserve Policy

Mrs. Dorman informed the Commission about the City's Reserve Policy. The MUC has a policy already in place and will continue to follow guide lines implemented by City.

Purchase Order for Ford Transit

Mrs. Dorman requested approval to move forward with the purchase of the new Ford Transit. She said this will replace the old meter reading truck.

Mrs. Dorman informed the Commission that she has received approval from our City Manager Sandra Tripp-Jones.

A motion was made to purchase the Ford Transit in the amount of $21,466.00 with the additional cost of $2500.00 for the graphics was made by Mrs. Nabb-Holotik seconded by Mr. Williams.
Approved.

New Master Plan

Mr. Bramble informed the Commission that the last Master Plan was done in 2008. He feels the changes in the system dictate that we consider updating or revising our current plan. Mr. Brooks made a motion for Mr. Bramble to move forward on pricing for a new plan or upgrading our existing one, seconded by Mr. Williams.
Approved.

Superintendent's Report

Mr. Bramble reported on the pumpage and billing for the month of July, August and September 2016, including fourteen street openings and two new services, one commercial located at 400-404 Race Street and one residential at 5348 Bucktown Road.

Other

Mr. Williams commended the MUC employees for all the repairs that are being completed throughout the city.

With no further business, a motion was made to adjourn at approximately 6:10 pm.
