May 25,2017


The Municipal Utilities Commission met in regular session on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Municipal Utilities Commission conference room at 410 Academy St., Cambridge, Md., Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley convened the meeting at approximately 5:30 pm.

Kevin Johnson-Superintendent-MUC

Megan Nabb-Holotik-MUC Commissioner

Expenditures

Expenditures for the month of March 2017 in the amount of $81,372.37 were submitted for approval.
Motion to approve the expenditures was made by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Ford.
Approved.

Expenditures for the month of April 2017 in the amount of $118,084.21 were submitted for approval.
Motion to approve the expenditures was made by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Brooks.
Approved.

Minutes

Minutes for the MUC meeting of March 23., 2017, were submitted for approval.
Motion to approve minutes was made by Mr. Brooks, seconded by Mr. Ford.
Approved.

Oak Hill Water Connections Update

Mrs. Dorman informed the Commission that there are a couple of services that are in city limits that are not connected to the main because it does not run by them. Mr. Bramble said municipal utilities are in the process of running the main off Oak Hill Rd. to Rt. 50 and they will also be installing a new hydrant on the corner of Rt.50 and Engle Drive. The project should be completed by the end of this fiscal year (FY-2017).

Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley wanted to know if the Salvation Army had service. Mrs. Dorman said she had notified them, however they have not responded. Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley gave Mrs. Dorman a contact person for her to follow up with.

Mrs. Dorman will continue to inform the Commission of any future updates.

 

Grant Update

Mr. Bramble informed the Commission that they do not qualify and will not be receiving the grant. We have been informed by MDE that this grant will be available in the future and we will continue to apply.

FY-18 Budget Update

Mrs. Dorman informed the Commission that she presented the budget to the City Commission on May 8th. 2017 and is awaiting approval.

Dump Truck Bids

Mrs. Dorman informed the Commission that Larry Seeberger had received bids submitted by Preston Ford, Koon's Ford and Hertrich Fleet Service. Mr. Bramble said that Preston Ford has agreed to pick up the older vehicle's they are taking on trade. After further discussion a motion was made to purchase the Dump Truck for approximately $50,000.00 from Preston Ford by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Brooks.
Approved.

Water Quality Reports

Mrs. Dorman informed the Commission that the water quality reports are complete and have been mailed.
Commissioner Joe Brooks stated for the record that a picture of his business appears on the cover of which he had no input.
Mrs. Dorman said the city purchased photos from local artists and this picture was submitted to the Commission by Economic Development which they felt depicts the flavor of Cambridge.

Superintendent's Report

Mr. Bramble reported on the pumpage and billing for the months of March & April 2017, including nine street openings and repairs.

With no further business, a motion was made to adjourn at approximately 5:50 pm.
