Council Meeting

October 19, 2009

The City Council met in regular session on Monday, October 19, 2009 in Council Chambers.  A quorum being present, Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Those Commissioners in attendance were Commissioners Knox, Sydnor, Stout, Thomas, and Hanson.  Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley asked for a moment of silence.  Commissioner Hanson led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

DHCD 'Home' Program Grant

The City is seeking a $300,000 grant to enable them, through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, develop two new in-fill houses that are built to minimally energy-star rated design in the City's Smart Site area (Maple Street District). Any surplus funds could be rolled toward other projects.  Commissioner Thomas made a motion to submit the application to DHCD for the Home Initiative Program. Commissioner Knox seconded the motion.  Commissioner Knox: aye; Commissioner Sydnor: nay; Commissioner Stout: aye; Commissioner Thomas: aye; Commissioner Hanson: aye. The motion passed 4:1 with Commissioner Sydnor opposed.

With no further business, Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley adjourned the meeting at 6:40 p.m.  I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and accurate account of the Council meeting Monday, October 19, 2009, insofar as I personally am aware.
