HPC Agenda

April 21, 2011

The City of Cambridge Historic Preservation Commission will conduct a meeting on Thursday, April  21st, at 7:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 305 Gay Street. The following items are on the agenda for this meeting at 7:00p.m.  A work session will convene at 5:30p.m. to review topics related to Rules of Procedures and draft design guidelines.  This meeting is open to the public.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: March 17th, 2011, (not finished) Special Called meeting on March 24th, 2011.

 

NEW CASES

HPC#38-11, 207 Oakley St., William Bair, (filed by Randy Bell, contractor) replace 3 tab asphalt shingle and with architectural shingles on residential property.

HPC#39-11, 706 Travers St., Michael Baugh, wrap window trim with aluminum sheathing, remove existing windows (one over one) and replace with new windows, remove remaining shutters and hardware, install vented soffit along roof line; replace wrought iron porch columns with turned columns, replace existing storm door with new full glass storm door, repair cross piece at gable roof intersection.

HPC#40-11, 319 High St., Don Brigerman, (filed by Crystal Signs) install 15" by 30" projection sign on commercial storefront.

HPC#41-11, 116 West End Ave., Lyle Cameron, construct 6' wood fence in rear of property.

HPC#42-11, 207 High Street, Vestry of Great Choptank Parish-601 Church St., (filed by William Douglas Robbins) erect 6 ft. vinyl coated fence around two sides of new cemetery addition.

HPC#43-11, 106 West End Ave., Louis Hyman, replace existing windows (one over one) with vinyl replacements windows on first floor; replace 2 jalousie windows in front attic gable roof area with one vinyl replacement window; install new double hung window on side dormer area.

HPC#44-11, 204 Belvedere Ave., William K. George, (filed by Will Jenkins, 84 Lumber and Aero Energy-W.Wise) replace existing windows (six over one) with vinyl  replacement windows; install solar hot water system.

HPC#45-11, 204 Belvedere Ave., William K. George, (filed by Advance Solar Technologies) install photo-voltaic solar panels, solar hot water system on roof, new roof materials and attic ventilation system, remove rear chimney, remove tree in rear yard.

 

OLD BUSINESS

HPC#31-11, 206 Choptank Ave.,- Dorchester County Council request to demolish residential structure.  HPC acted to deny; however County has requested the application be withdrawn and decision rescinded.  County seeks to sell property at auction.

 

ADMINISTRATIVELY APPROVED/ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

107 Mill St., Bobbie Rideout,  Replace existing vinyl shutters with in-kind, replace existing vinyl porch railings and add one column with in-kind.  Dwelling is 1 ½ story, 1970 era.  No historical features affected.  Approved as Routine Maintenance 4-6-11.

306 Oakley St., Janet Laurence, (by contractor) replace existing 3 tab shingles with 3 tab shingles on front portion of house.  Colors to match existing.

 

Request for Special Called Meeting:

1005 Hambrooks, Jeff and Debra Sheets, request to call Special Called meeting due to Building Permit Office error: to install 6 ft. and 4 ft. white vinyl fence along rear and side property lines.  Applicant was informed by B.P. Permit official that they were not located in Historic District.

 

Request for Administrative Approval:

Dock Master Building, City Marina, request by City of Cambridge to install 6ft shadow box wood fencing around two air conditioners next to building due to vandalism (minor landscaping category).
