New Cases

HPC#25-12, 114 Glenburn Ave., Bank of the Eastern Shore, (Jim Chaney, applicant) request to demolish shed in rear.

HPC#26-12, 119 Vue de Leau St., Jay Jones.  Follow-up with previously approved COA# 27-11 for partial demolition of front porch with condition that plans for porch reconstruction be re-submitted to HPC within 6 months of sale. New owner has submitted plans for restoration of porch which may include some composite materials for porch soffit and fascia and fiberglass columns.

HPC#27-12, 5 Willis Street, Cameron and Lucia Smith, request to install three (3) vinyl clad replacement windows in rear addition-grid patterns to match existing replacement windows; install two (2) fiberglass replacement doors in rear and side of rear additions, construct 2-3 step wood stairs on side where new door is located with landing.

HPC#28-12, 311 Glenburn Avenue, Ronald and Karin Ireland (Purchasers) replace existing windows with vinyl with double hung (one over one); install vinyl siding on rear portion of house; replace hand rail on front porch, install solar panels in rear; miscellaneous improvements. House to be re-used as assisted living/group home per previous SPECIAL EXCEPTION permit issued for this property.

HPC# 29-12, 400-402 Race Street, Ed Maloney, install 10 vinyl replacement windows in boarded up areas to match existing vinyl windows (six over six grid patterns); install membrane roof over existing membrane/tar roof over Leaky Pete's (404 Race) and replace vinyl siding on wall next to 404 Race Street damaged from storm.

Continuation Cases

HPC#17-12, 106 Choptank Ave.  William and Laura Hofherr, repair and replacement of porch components, partial replacement of siding, installation of replacement windows and trim.  HPC acted on 10-20-11 to approve porch repairs and substitute material for porch flooring (columns; railings and details to remain); no action taken on roof or windows without further information to be submitted. UPDATE:  No further information provided.  Staff recommends item be removed until additional information is submitted.

HPC#23-12, 310 West End Ave., Jacqueline Francesca Riddy-O'Dowd, (Frank Bradley) HPC approved requested items with exception of installation of vinyl siding on portions of house with original siding. Existing vinyl siding allowed to be replaced on rear addition.  Preserve existing shutters on house (2 sets remaining).  Not approved: replacement of portico door.  Applicant to furnish examples of final siding and shutters and porch railing prior to installation.  UPDATE:  Applicant has elected not to move forward with installation of vinyl siding on remainder of house at present time and will paint and repair existing boards.  Request by applicant to remove item from agenda. Staff recommends item be removed from future agenda.


Administratively Approved/Routine Maintenance:

114 Glenburn Ave., Bank of the Eastern Shore, (Rhonda Gray, Sr. Vp. Filed by Jim Cheney) replace 2 step deteriorated wood steps in rear with in-kind replacement.  Approved as Routine Maintenance.  11-17-11

1104 School St., filed by Ted Brooks, Chesapeake LLC, replace screen and support structure in front porch area to duplicate other half of porch.  Original screen structure removed and partially reinstalled without HPC approval.
