The City of Cambridge Historic Preservation Commission will conduct a meeting on Thursday, August 15th, at 7:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 305 Gay Street. The following items are on the agenda for this meeting:

Extension/Continuation Cases

HPC#31-13, 705 Church St., Jamie Richardson (owner): replace existing one over one windows with one over one vinyl replacement windows.  (HPC acted to table application with concurrence of property owner to explore ways to preserve or repair/replace front and other windows). Owner again contacted by email on 8-6-13; waiting for direction from owner.

HPC#7-14, 521 Poplar St., Chuck Kelly (owner): request to renovate façade and redesign commercial entrance way at former Craig's Drug Store (resubmission of previously approved plans).  Tabled with concurrence of applicant.  Subcommittee appointed (Will Dennehy, Katie Clendaniel).  Met applicant with staff on Monday July 22nd.  Applicant advised to seek professional assistance.  Request filed to table application to Sept. meeting.  No action needed.


Regular Agenda Items

HPC#8-14, 4 West End Ave., Betsy Davis (owner), Richard Coalla, (applicant), replace existing 8' by 10' metal shed with vinyl 8' by 10' replacement shed at same location. (Applicant may be presenting concept plans for a handicapped ramp on an emergency basis-agenda change may be needed to consider).

HPC#9-14, Long Wharf Park, American Legion-Eastern Shore Post 88, Raymond Simmons, Jr. (applicant): request to install WWI marker behind fountain location.

HPC#10-14, 310 Mill St., William Bishop (owner) reconstruct damaged chimney to lower height, reinstall-repair porch railing to original condition, replace shed shingles on roof to match shingles on house.

HPC#11-14, 720 Glasgow St., Laurie Sanford (owner), remove storm windows, replace existing one over one, double hung windows with replacement windows, restore porch railings to match original profiles, add diagonal lattice work under porch.

Administratively Approved/Routine Maintenance:

HPC-Adm. #3A-14, 606 Locust St., Cesar Gonzalez (owner): installation of temporary corrugated sheeting over rear shed until decision is made to take it down or repair.  Existing asphalt shingles in poor condition.  Shed is structurally damaged by near-by tree.  Administratively approved-temporary emergency repairs:  July 31st, 2013.

HPC-Adm. #4A-14, 300 Choptank Ave., Brian Ivers (owner): replace 3 tab shingles on front porch roof with architectural dimensional shingles to match main body of house (previously approved by HPC).  Shallow pitch, not readily visible from street.  Administratively approved. July 31st, 2013.

HPC-Adm. # 5A-14, 706 Travers St., Mike Baugh (owner): replacement of non-historic wood porch step railing with appropriate replacement. (turned balusters-molded horizontal rail). Administratively approved. August 1st, 2013.

HPC-Adm #6A-14, 513 Court Lane, Court Lane Properties, LLC-Tim Crosby (owner): replace previous projection sign with 32" by 8" projection sign over front door.  Administratively approved.  August 5th, 2013.
