HPC Agenda

The City of Cambridge Historic Preservation Commission will conduct a meeting on Thursday, November 21st, at 7:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 305 Gay Street. The following items are on the agenda for this meeting:

Consent Agenda:

HPC#28-FY13-14, 704 Water St., Patty C. Brohawn (owner), James Brohawn, Inc. (contractor applicant): replace 3 tab shingles on house with arch./dimensional shingles.

HPC#33-FY 13-14, 304 Glenburn, Virginia Mathews (owner), Ryan Heckler (applicant- contractor), replace 3 tab shingles with arch./dimensional shingles on house.

Extension/Continuation Cases

HPC#31-13, 705 Church St., Jamie Richardson (applicant-purchaser), replace existing one over one windows with one over one vinyl replacement windows. HPC acted to table application with concurrence of property owner; property owner to explore ways to preserve or repair/replace front and other windows as requested by HPC. Revised application to include repairs to dormer roof on right side and a modification to the window request to preserve front bay windows and replace others as requested originally. (applicant to appear at meeting-material previously sent).

HPC#7-14, 521 Poplar St., Chuck Kelly (owner): request to renovate façade and redesign commercial entrance way at former Craig's Drug Store. Presentation from Tim Crosby.

HPC#20-14, 207 Belvedere Ave., Charles McFadden, new front porch, window replacements, rear deck, entrance door. Approved with recommendations. Applicant to furnish side elevation drawing of side elevation to review installation of new window. Casement windows to be replaced with a casement window to match. No new information.

HPC#26-FY13-14, 315 West End Ave., F. Bruce and Robin Herman (owners), Jeff Smith (contractor), replace 3 windows with vinyl replacement windows.

HPC#27-FY13-14, 120 Mill St. Mark Masden (owner), Scot Betts (applicant -contractor), replace wood columns with fiberglass replacements, replace t/g wood porch flooring where needed, replace band board with composite; existing porch railings to be re-used.

HPC#29-FY13-14, 116 Glenburn Ave., Brooks Bridges and Maureen Farrell (owners), Steve Scott (contractor-applicant): install 4 ft. new white vinyl fence in rear yard area.

HPC#30-FY 13-14, 114 Glenburn Ave., Heather Herfel (owner), Arcadia Fencing, Inc. (contractor): install 4 ft. white vinyl fence in rear yard area.

HPC#31-FY13-14, 105 Choptank Ave., Dave Wham (owner): remove 70 ft. of existing chain link fencing; install 94 feet of white vinyl, 6 ft. fencing including 2 gates to match existing fencing already installed to enclose rear yard area.

HPC#32-FY 13-14, 602 Williams St., Bonnie M. Malkus (owner), Eric Willey Builders (applicant-contractor): install replacement fiberglass columns on front porch, composite t/g flooring to match existing; install replacement composite porch railing.

HPC-Adm. #14A-FY13/14, 1007 Locust St., Dave Thatcher (owner) BAS Construction (contractor): replace shingles with flat membrane roof on low pitch, upper shed roof in rear corner of house-not visible from the street. Administratively approved-Oct. 23rd. 2013.

HPC-Adm. #15A-FY13-14, 105 Choptank Ave., removed from Administrative Approval to full HPC Review due to change in scope of project.

HPC-Adm. #16A-FY13-14, 212 Willis St., Carmon Properties, LLC., (owner) replace 3 Tab shingles with 3 tab on house and porch. Administratively Approved-Routine Maintenance. 10-23-13.

HPC-Adm. #17A-FY13-14, 6 Oakley St., Jim Lithicum, paint house and replace damaged slate shingles with in-kind replacement slate shingles. Administratively approved. 10-25-13.

HPC-Adm. #18A-FY13-14, 601 Locust St., Ken Longenecker-Atlantic Roofing-Kevin Soner) applicant-contractor): extend and install membrane roof on commercial building to edging along top of wall. Not visible from street. Administratively approved. 10-28-13.

HPC-Adm. #19A-FY 13-14, 1105 School St. Sharon Smith (owner), replace existing arch. shingles with like-kind shingles. Administratively approved. 11-14-13.
