The City of Cambridge and consultant Able.City will kick off a week-long charrette that seeks public engagement and collaboration from the community to develop a new Comprehensive Plan. Professionals in the fields of planning, transportation, economics and public safety will spend the week of Aug. 18-22 in Cambridge, engaging with members of our community and seeking input to plan a path forward for Cambridge.
Locations are being determined, but save these dates and times for important public engagement efforts for the entire community:
- Public Kick-Off and Hands-On Design Session
Monday, August 18 – 6 p.m.
Join us for an informative presentation on town planning and community visioning. Work alongside your neighbors to draw your vision for the future of Cambridge! This is a family-friendly event.
Tuesday, Aug 19-Thursday, Aug 21 - 9 AM- 6 PM
Stop by the studio during the day to talk with the design team and provide input as the plan evolves. This will be a unique opportunity to provide feedback as the initial plan ideas are being developed.
Wednesday, August 20 - 6-8 PM
The planning team will put down their pencils and pin-up their work. Come explore the studio, ask questions, and learn more about comprehensive plan ideas as they evolve.

Public Design Charrettes bring together all stakeholders for an engaging, focused collaboration with the planning team to reach a shared vision for the future development of a place. This fast-paced and immersive process features a series of creative work sessions where the public and planning team work side by side to develop a draft comprehensive plan for the area’s evolution.
Participating in the Charrette will give you a chance to express your vision for the future of Cambridge and set the goals and priorities for the community moving forward. Your participation will make the difference between a good plan and a great plan.
